Why don't you just sit down and tell him this? Tell him it confuses you that he seems to spend frivilously, but is miserly with his children. Tell him that makes you feel that you are worth less to him than his car. Or whatever it makes you feel.He may not realize he's doing this. He may be doing it on purpose, but not aware that your feelings are hurt. But understand this, it is his money. Unless he inherited it all, he works for it. It is not an allowance, his efforts bring it in. If he is trying to teach you a work ethic, fine. If he is trying to teach you the value of money fine. But tell him his unpredicatble and inconsistent generosity confuses you and muddles the lesson. If you are not upset, tell him you just don't get it and want to understand.

Just because he buys things doesnt mean hes loaded the cost of living has gone up, remember he feeds and clothes you and pays the bills which isnt cheap so appreciate that if your Dad works hard he is entitled to buy himself things you probably get a lot on birthdays and xmas
