I'm looking for a part time job but I have a question. How do I find out the average pay of the position before I go and apply for it. If it's under $10, I can't take the job because I need more. So, how do I find out the average pay before hand? It might seem rude to ask for it during an interview, and if it's under $10, it would be awkward to interview, and then find out that it's under $10 and then I would have to quit.

Depending on the company, you could just call up and ask. If you're, say, applying at a big dept store, you're unlikely to speak to the person doing the hiring. Viola.Otherwise, it's a perfectly acceptable question to ask in the interview. Employers ask if you have questions, right? Think of three or four insightful ones before you go in. Like "what's one quality you wish all your new hires had coming in?" and so forth. "What kind of advancement is possible if I exceed your expectations here?" You know. Then you can squeeze in "what's the pay scale like here?"Good luck with the job search.

You will just have to ask people you know who work at places. What sort of places were you thinking of applying at? and how old are you and where abouts are you from? put this up and i might be able to help you further

You may think you're worth $10 an hour, but it's the employer who decides what you're worth--the employer generally has the upper hand. It's considered bad form to ask about pay before you've been offered the job. That might seem odd, since your whole reason for working is the pay, but the main purpose of a job interview is for you to convince the employer that you are qualified and will work hard. You will come off as presumptuous and self-centered if you ask about pay before the person doing the hiring decides if they're interested in you. In the world of work, people often are cagey about discussing how much they make--you might find that another person doing the same job as you makes much more than you get--but that's the way things are. You might try researching the want-ads or asking friends about how much part-time jobs pay in your area.

They send me surveys on a regular basis, so I get to fill them out at home while watching my kids. I make some money, and get some cool prizes too.I've found some really useful ideas on here, so I decided it was time for me to give back.Enjoy! :)
