Psychology is an important aspect of law enforcement. Understanding the criminal mind will make your transition from civilian to officer much easier and aid you in understanding the people you deal with on a daily basis. However, take it from experience, pick a degree that can help you in other fields of work as well as being a law enforcement officer does not pay particularly well. For instance many officers on my department have degrees in accounting and offer tax services (with departmental approval) during tax season for a nominal fee. Psychology may also be a great degree to obtain if your policing career doesn't work out (this lifestlye is not for everyone) as you could transfer into a different profession. So a psychology degree would be beneficial in understading criminal minds or if you found a career in law enforcement was not for you; however, I can't see the degree helping you financially during your tenure as an officer.

A Psych Degree would also open doors in Parole and Probation, Social Work, Government positions from the CIA to FBI and so on.It's an extremely strong degree, that can provide more latitude to numerous other jobs.Criminal Justice is restricting and I know that for a fact, particularly in Northern States like Michigan. It truly narrows your options and "pigeon holes" you for potential employers.
