My son is 6 weeks old and this week has started fighting going to sleep during the day. He will fuss and cry and then stop and yawn 3-4 times over and over. Finally I have been able to get him to sleep by putting him in his swing.Does anyone else have this problem, and do you have any suggestions on how to deal with this without putting him to sleep in the swing? (we have a dog and I will not leave them alone in the room together)PS. he goes to bed fine at nightime, it's just during the day. I need some help as we are leaving on vacation and have a 7 hour flight on Monday and do NOT want him to be like this on the plane...thanks!!he will be feeding during takeoff and landing on the plane so his ears are not a concern.also he is bottle fed!

Have you tried keeping the room really dark and quiet like at night? If the weather is really bad outside and it's darker than normal, my son always naps better. Also, as a mommy, you get very worn out... why not take a nap together? My son sleeps better when we cosleep, especially for naps.

My baby boy will be 6 weeks tomorrow and has been doing the same thing. You KNOW they are tired because they are yawning and fighting to keep their eyes open. What I do, during the day, is close all the blinds and turn the lights off to get the room as dark as possible. Then I swaddle him up and rock with him for about 10-15 minutes and this usually does the trick.

My son did this everytime I tried to put him down for a nap. I got into the habit of just letting him nurse until he dozed off. I did not turn the lights off, or make everything quiet because he would never be able to go to sleep when we were out visiting the family. Plus when they are still in utero they hear more noise than people believe. It may be more comforting to have some repetitive noises going, like a fan or the dishwasher. Eventually I just cut out the number of naps he took I had to fight him less about it and he rested better when he did go down. It is just something you have to work through. As far as the plane ride goes, he won't be able to make his ears pop to relieve the pressure so you might as well be prepared for some fussing. Sorry, but Good Luck.
